AUM (OM)

The syllable A is considered to be the Kala Hansa’s right wing, U, its left, M, its tail, and the Ardha-matra (half metre) is said to be its head.

Om is the bow: the Self is the arrow, Brahman is called its aim. It is to hit by a man who is not thoughtless: and then as the arrow becomes one with the target.
